Life

Another writer once told me that if you complete five pages a day - pages that the writer is happy with - that is an accomplishment. I verbally concurred with them, but the thought did enter my mind: Five pages...I can definitely accomplish more than five pages a day. Piece of cake...

Eight hours of writing and two pots of coffee later, re-writing, changing the plot line, I found that I had completed five pages that I was satisfied with. The rest was saved to a disk; maybe I could use it for another scene later in the script.

My intent and hope of this blog is to encourage other writers, actors, etc. not to give up on your ideas or your dreams. It can be hard; sometimes it becomes tedious and then you second guess your gut feeling. And then quit.

I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin -- you know, Laverne and Shirley, Happy Days. I moved to Menomonee Falls when I was a teenager. As kids, we would joke "Monotony Falls" or "Me-no-money Falls."

I always had a passion for Cinema and the Performing arts. At one point, I wanted to be a dancer, which was ironic since I was 265lbs. In high school I was overweight and not very popular but still determined... I even auditioned for the school plays, but never made the cut. This really bothered me - How could they not see my talent? I played a singing elephant in grade school! ;)

My parents never understood my passion and enthusiasm for the arts. I did not receive the support from them that I felt I deserved. In response, I rebelled, as most teenagers do. I was sent into the military (the Army) at the age of seventeen. The lessons were harsh but I will forever value and respect them.

I have accepted that my parents just will never fully understand the passion. But, in their defense, they are now trying, and I love them dearly for that.

When I got out of the military, I had a difficult time readjusting to civilian life, but through friends I found my way and applied to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. That is where the story begins

I was living in a six-unit complex outside of Pittsburgh, which was a pleasant change from living in the Allegheny dorms and walking across the bridge. (Mind you, the hike felt like ten miles.) After I moved out of the dorms I would take the T, the tram system, to downtown Pittsburgh and walk the rest of the way to school.

I started writing the first draft of my script in 1996. I had to bring to life a world and characters that nobody had ever seen or heard...

I literally have four completed scripts, but none that I am truly happy with. Thus, I am now in the process of combining the best elements of each into one final product...
