ScreenwriterJD's Fashion Tips...

“Everyone loves fashion and wants to be fashionable.” Also we have heard, “Fashion can make or break a man or woman.” This is true but only to a point. Fashion is in the eye of the beholder. This can be proven by looking at the designs of Nicholas Ghesquiere compared to Calvin Klein, both with different concepts of what fashion is, but both eloquent in there own way. We could continue, James Coviello versus Gaultier... and so on...

But for others, it is Walmart versus Kmart. There is no shame in that. If the clothes make you feel like a million dollars, wear them.

On the night of the “Oscars” actors, actresses, directors, writers and the list goes on, get dressed up for the evening looking their best, ready to beat the odds. Because on Oscar night, it is a chance for any one of them to be picked out and brought in front of their peers and honored for excelling in their craft.

Some actresses wear evening gowns that have been donated to them by the top fashion designers of the year to help promote his/hers design. Others are blessed and are able to purchase a dress or gown of their own choosing. They then pick out the appropriate shoes and accessories for the outfit, get their hair styled. It is their day to shine, and shine they do. They feel that they are on top of the world, and then...

...Out comes the “Best and worst dressed list”. I myself believe that these lists are an abomination. Self esteem killers. You are free to agree or disagree...

Though Actress Mary Doe won an Oscar for best performance, she is shunned by Hollywood because she made the “Worst Dressed List” all because her shoes didn’t match her accessories; they were one shade off (God forbid)... Does anyone else find this disturbing?

The paparazzi are even worse. Sneaking up on unsuspecting actors and actresses and taking their photo and then plastering the photos on the front page of tabloids... “Oh my god (sarcasm), movie and television stars really do wear jeans and t-shirts...” sigh, “And god forbid if one actually picked their nose like real human beings!” I would be in serious trouble; my picture would be plastered every day on the front page of the tabloids if the paparazzi followed me around!

screenwriterJD’s fashion tips:

Tip One: Wear what makes you feel good. It could be an evening gown, dress or just a pair of ripped jeans and t-shirt.

Tip Two: If you feel good wearing what you are wearing, don’t let others take away from how you feel.

Tip Three: DO NOT loose weight because others tell you that you need to loose weight. Most of them are smoking crack and are usually overweight themselves. If you are comfortable with your body, screw them. Only do it because you want to. And to all of the actresses out there, take a stand. Your male fans love women with curves and the talent you have when performing on the big and small screens.

  1. We're on the same page there. Most people know that kind of thinking is superficial and petty - still, I don't expect this to change any time soon.
